01The instrument
The Vector screen answers one question: how much to contribute today, and why.
When you open the app you see, top to bottom, the market level (01 to 04), a plain-language sentence that translates it, the contribution your rule proposes, and a one-line reason. Nothing else. If no decision is due today, the screen tells you when the next one is and what the number would be if the window opened now.
Below the amount is “Why this amount?”. It opens the full calculation with the engine’s real values: today’s price, the 90- and 365-day highs, which anchor won, your rule for that level, what it asks for, what your budget and reserve cover, and the shortfall if there is one. No number in VECTOR is arbitrary: every one of them traces back to your own rule.
Further down, the Command Center sums up the current period: budget available out of total, accumulated reserve, next review (if your rhythm has a calendar) and your discipline score. If you have more than one strategy, it names the one in use.
When you buy on your exchange, you come back and log the contribution: actual amount, units, where the balance sits. That is the whole job: read a number, execute it yourself, write down what you did.
02The four levels
Four rungs. You set where each one starts and how much goes in at each.
The thresholds and amounts below are the app’s defaults on a €500 base. You can change all of them in Strategy → Your rules, and the engine will only apply what you wrote there.
Intensity never goes below your base. If the market rises, you keep contributing; you simply contribute the minimum you committed to.
03How the drop is measured
Two anchors, and the deeper one wins.
VECTOR compares the current price with two highs: the last 90 days and the last 365 days. It computes the drop against each and applies the larger of the two.
The reason is that the 90-day anchor moves with you: in a long decline, the recent high keeps sliding and the market ends up looking calm when it isn’t. The 365-day anchor doesn’t give way as fast. When the two disagree, the one that marks the higher rung wins. The “Why this amount?” sheet always shows you which one did.
One asset sets the level
Even if a strategy splits across several crypto assets, only one of them sets the level for the whole strategy. This is a design decision: if each asset had its own signal, three different decisions would fight over the same day. You choose the signal asset in Strategy → Market signal.
Prices and highs are read from public market sources and can be refreshed at any time. You can also type them in by hand if you prefer your own data.
04Your rhythm
When you decide is part of the rule. VECTOR offers six rhythms and forces none of them on you.
- Monthly Focus
- A fixed window from the 22nd to the 26th of each month. The rest of the month the app asks nothing of you. What you don’t execute in the window goes to the reserve when you decide.
- Any day
- Decide whenever you like, with a seven-day cooldown between decisions. For people who want to respond to the market without falling into “should I buy again today?”.
- Weekly
- Every Monday. Budget of the week, decision of the week.
- Fortnightly
- The 1st and the 16th. Fits a lot of paychecks.
- Monthly budget
- One monthly cap you spread as you wish, with a three-day cooldown. The engine tracks what’s used and what’s left.
- Manual
- No calendar, no reminders. The app only calculates and records.
Monthly Focus, the rhythm VECTOR was born with. Still available as is.
Let’s be clear about this: no rhythm is a statistical edge. There is nothing special about the 23rd versus the 11th, or Monday versus Thursday. The rhythm’s job is to take the when off your plate, so the only question left is “do I execute what my rule says?”. Pick the one you can sustain for years; that’s the right one.
The rhythm is set per strategy and can be changed in Strategy → My strategies. Every change is versioned: the history remembers which rule and which rhythm each decision was made under.
If you contribute outside your rhythm, during a cooldown, or a different amount than proposed, VECTOR doesn’t stop you. It asks for a reason and keeps it in the journal. Discipline isn’t enforced with locks; it is measured.
05Budget and reserve
What the rule asks for and what you actually have are two different things.
- Period budget
- The money you set aside for this strategy in each period of your rhythm: the week, the fortnight or the month. It is your discipline baseline.
- Used and available
- What you have already contributed in the current period and what is left. When the budget runs out, the engine proposes €0 and says so.
- Accumulated reserve
- The leftover from earlier periods that you didn’t execute. It is kept for the days when the rule asks for more than the budget.
When the market falls hard, the rule may ask for more than you have available. VECTOR doesn’t hide it: it shows the figure the rule asks for, the figure your budget plus reserve covers, and the difference. You contribute what you can and the day is recorded exactly as it was.
That is why the reserve exists. Calm periods fund hard periods. When you create a strategy, the app shows how many level-04 decisions your starting reserve covers.
06Strategies
A strategy is a rule, a rhythm, a budget and a split. You can have several.
In Strategy → My strategies you see all of yours and which one is in use. From there you can use another, rename it, duplicate it as a simulation to try a variant without touching the real one, and archive or restore. VECTOR never deletes a strategy: its history is part of your journal.
Each strategy keeps its own rules (base, thresholds, intensities), its rhythm, its budget, its reserve and its market signal. Changes are versioned, so a decision from six months ago can always be read with the rule that was in force at the time.
Your split
Each contribution is split between Bitcoin, Ethereum and Solana in the percentages you set per strategy. New strategies start 100 % Bitcoin; you can change that. The app estimates the units of each asset at the day’s price, and after buying you can correct the exact figures in the record. The truer that data, the truer your average cost.
07History and journal
Every decision leaves a card. Including the ones that weren’t purchases.
The Decision Journal keeps, for every day you decided, what the engine proposed, what you did, the deviation if any, the reason you wrote and where the balance went. Each card carries its label: ON PLAN or OFF PLAN. From each one you can reopen that day’s “Why this amount?”.
You can also log that you are not contributing today. The reason is recorded and nothing is penalized. Deciding not to buy is a valid decision; what breaks a strategy isn’t skipping a day, it’s not knowing why.
Discipline score
A 0–100 score computed only from your own history, with four components: adherence (40 points: how close what you did was to what the rule proposed), coverage (25: how many planned decisions you attended to), stability (20: how much you change the rule) and reserve (15: whether you keep it above zero). In History → Discipline & replay you see the score, its components, and a replay of your strategy over real prices since you started, compared with a fixed DCA of the same budget.
The score doesn’t measure whether you made money. It measures whether you did what you said you would.
08Portfolio and self-custody
Buying is half the job. The other half is knowing where it is and getting it off the exchange.
Portfolio Memory tracks, per asset, accumulated units, average cost and the locations you declare: free-form labels such as “Exchange”, “Cold 1” or “Hardware”. You can log transfers between locations; they don’t change your totals, only where each part sits. The app checks you don’t move more than the source holds.
Custody blocks
Every logged purchase opens a 30-day window to move those assets to your own cold wallet. Because moving small amounts over and over is expensive in fees, VECTOR groups contributions into accumulation blocks of the size you set. When an execution crosses that threshold, the block closes whole and the next one opens. Nothing is split in half.
When a block closes, the protocol is always the same: prepare a cold device, generate and verify its seed phrase, store device and phrase in different places, and move the closed block’s balance.
09Scenario Lab
Your rules over the real prices of the last year. Same engine, same math, no prediction.
The Lab downloads the daily price series of the last 365 days once and keeps it on your device; after that it works offline. With it you can replay your strategy over the last 90, 180 or 365 days and see how many decisions it would have made, how much it would have invested, at what average cost and how much reserve it would have used, always against a fixed DCA of the same budget on the same days.
You can replay all your active strategies at once and see which one would have come out ahead in that stretch, ask “what if I double the base?”, and put the strategy through four stress tests: fast 35 % crash then flat, flat market for 90 days, slow 40 % recovery, and a new all-time high. They are hypothetical sequences, not forecasts, and the app says so next to every result.
The Horizon does the other calculation: at 1, 2, 3, 5, 10 or 20 years, how many decisions you have left and how much capital you will have contributed if you keep the base. It is pure arithmetic: no return is assumed. The scenario fan works the same way: you write the annual assumption, including a negative one, and the app does the math.
The only certain figures in the whole app are the capital you have already contributed and the units you already hold in custody. Everything else is hypothetical, and labeled as such.
10Vault
Everything lives on your phone. The Vault is where you decide who sees it and where the copy goes.
- Face ID
- Protects access so only you see your decision and your history.
- Hide amounts
- Blurs every figure in the app. Press and hold an amount to reveal it. For showing the app, or using it in public, without showing your money.
- Encrypted backup
- One file with all your strategies and history, encrypted with AES-256-GCM and a key derived from your passphrase (PBKDF2, 210,000 rounds). VECTOR never knows the passphrase: lose it and the file is unreadable. It restores on any iPhone with the same passphrase.
- iCloud backup
- The automatic copy in your Apple account, to get everything back when you change phone.
- Export
- A CSV of the strategy, hardened so no cell is interpreted as a formula in a spreadsheet, and a Strategy Blueprint in Markdown: your rule, your rhythm and your decisions in readable text.
The trade-off is the usual one in self-custody: delete the app without a backup and the history goes with it.
11Free and Vector Pro
The app is free to download and bought once. Never a subscription.
Vector Free includes the full onboarding, the complete instrument, one strategy, the 90-day Lab, the journal, the discipline score and Portfolio Memory. You can log three decisions at no charge. That is enough time to know whether the method is for you.
Vector Pro · Founder is a one-time in-app purchase at the Founder launch price, and it unlocks everything: unlimited decisions, unlimited strategies with duplicates and simulations, the full Lab (180 and 365 days, all strategies, “what if I double?” and stress tests), encrypted backup and exports. Anyone who bought the app when it was paid up front has Vector Pro forever at no extra cost.
The purchase is tied to your Apple account. If you change phone, go to Vault → Purchase & restore and tap Restore purchase.
12What VECTOR doesn’t do
The tool’s limits, with no fine print.
- Doesn’t buy or sell cryptocurrency
- Doesn’t execute trades
- Doesn’t custody funds
- Doesn’t connect to exchanges
- Doesn’t connect to wallets
- Doesn’t store seed phrases
- Doesn’t store keys or PINs
- Doesn’t give buy signals or investment advice
VECTOR is a calculation instrument. It applies rules you defined to market data and keeps a record of what you execute on your own. Every decision, and all the risk, is yours.
13Questions
Can I change the thresholds and amounts?
Yes, all of them, per strategy. Base, the four drop thresholds and the contribution at each level. The engine only applies what you wrote in Your rules; it has no hidden rules of its own. Every change is versioned.
What if I skip a decision day?
Nothing happens. The amount you didn’t execute stays in the reserve. If you like, log that you didn’t contribute and why; it goes in the journal and isn’t penalized. The app records days as they were, not as they should have been.
Do I have to use the 22nd–26th window?
No. Monthly Focus is one of six rhythms. If you’d rather decide any day, weekly, fortnightly, from a free monthly budget or by hand, change it in My strategies.
What if I contribute a different amount than proposed?
It is recorded as is, with the reason you write, and the card is marked off plan. The discipline score takes it into account. VECTOR doesn’t block; it measures.
Does it work for assets other than crypto?
The current version works with Bitcoin, Ethereum and Solana. The logic — buy more the further the price is from its high — isn’t exclusive to crypto, but today the app is built around these three.
Is it a subscription?
No. Free download, three decisions at no charge, and a single in-app purchase for Vector Pro. Nothing is charged on a recurring basis.
Where is my data?
On your iPhone and, if you have it on, in your Apple account backup. There is no user account, no sign-up and no server holding your figures. The only network connection is to read public market prices.
Does this guarantee I’ll make money?
No. No contribution rule guarantees returns, and buying dips can also mean buying before bigger dips. What VECTOR offers is a method that doesn’t depend on your mood that day, and an honest record of whether you followed it.
